So this is a few days late...sorry Dad! His birthday is the 3rd, which is when I started this, but couldn't finish until I located a picture. Anyway, no excuses.
I have quite a few men in my life that mean a lot to me (those of you who know my family understand why). But there are two men that fill the biggest parts of my heart...my husband & my daddy:) (I love them both in very different ways & also very similar ways.) When James & I were expecting our daughter, he told me that one of the things he hoped for the most is for him & his little girl to have the kind of relationship that I did with my dad. So far, so good:)
I have such wonderful memories of my dad. Dancing on his feet as a little girl, being tickled until I couldn't breath during our monthly "Father's Interviews", sneaking up behind him at his drawing board while he was working & listening to his headphones, our daddy-daughter-dates that we went on clear through high school, The smell of his deodorant & aftershave in the morning when I would wake up, words he uses..jammie-jams, we's home, skin the bunny rabbit...there are so many more little phrases he uses, I wish I could think of them all right now. But my favorite phrase of all...Emily-Ann-Shorty-HighPockets-TootsBuggy-ButterBucket-Maughan. It's his nickname for me:) He still uses it to this day, he's just added Dallin to the very end! Through my high school years, when hormones rage & tempers fly & all that other fun stuff, he was my calming influence. And after I had Madelyn & everyone had followed her to the nursery, my dad sat in my room with me & told me how proud he was that his baby girl had just had her own baby girl!! I could go on & on but I'm sure it would take up way too much room:) So I'll wrap things up by saying that my dad is one of the two most important men in my life, he is the reason I knew what qualities to look for in a husband, he will do anything for his family, he never thinks twice about giving up things he wants so his kids can have what they want, he was my safety & security, he is caring & gentle. I never once doubted how much he loved me. I have always & will always look up to him & respect him for the man that he is. I love him with my whole heart. No matter how old I get, he will always be "MY DADDY"!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY!!!

His favorite thing to do...relax in the shade & read:)
